Hit Wicket in One Day International


Pakistani batsman Misbah-ul-Haq lost his wicket by being hit wicket against Australia at Centurion during the ICC Champions Trophy match. Thus he became the 54th batsmen in the history to be out HIT WICKET.
Some interesting facts about hit wicket.

*** Misbah is the 4th Pakistani batsmen after Inzmam-ul-Haq, Javed Miandad and Shoaib Malik to be out by hit wicket.
*** 9th batsmen to be out in such fashion against Australia.
*** West Indian Roy Fredricks was the first too out hit wicket. His most famous single shot was a failure, however: right at the start of the first World Cup final, he hooked a ball from Lillee over long-leg only to tread on his wicket in the process.
*** Australia’s Dennis Lille was the first bowler to get hit wicket.
*** West Indian great Courtney Walsh has the 4 hit wicket dismissals to his credit followed by Wasim Akram (3)
*** There are 6 batsmen who lost there wicket by being out hit wicket twice in their ODI career.
*** There are another 6 batsmen who were out hit wicket for no score.
*** Highest score when out hit wicket is 67 (by V Sibanda of Zimbabwe vs Ireland in 2007 WC)
